Price drop alerts

Alerts arrive with the next Servo Scout update.

Watch your regular servos and Servo Scout tells you when it is worth filling up: a price jump coming tomorrow, a low point in the weekly cycle, or a 6 week low. Free for every account, at most one push a day, and you can turn it off any time.

What you get

At most one push a day, picked from three kinds:

• Your servo jumps tomorrow, fill today. FuelWatch prices lock for the day. When tomorrow's confirmed price at your servo is higher, Servo Scout tells you that evening, with the exact rise in cents and what it costs on a 60 L fill.
• Your servo is at its low for the cycle. Perth petrol prices move in a weekly cycle. When your servo drops to its lowest point since the last cycle jump, and the drop is worth acting on, you get a push.
• A 6 week low. For diesel, and for petrol servos outside the metro area, Servo Scout tells you when today's price is the lowest FuelWatch has recorded there in 6 weeks.

Every push uses official FuelWatch prices only. Community price reports never trigger a push.

How to turn them on

1. Open a station in the app and tap the bell.
2. Allow notifications when your phone asks.
3. That is it. The bell shows Watching, and the station joins your favourites.

You can set your alert threshold in Settings: 3, 5, or 10 cents per litre, default 5. It is a noise floor. Servo Scout also checks that a drop is a real cycle low, and worth a dollar figure, before it sends anything.

Why did I get no push today?

A quiet day usually means nothing qualified. These are all the reasons a push stays away:

• Nothing at your watched servos qualified. A small drop against yesterday is not, on its own, a reason to fill up.
• Tomorrow was no cheaper than today at your servo, so Servo Scout stayed quiet rather than tell you to fill up for nothing.
• It was a flat week. Prices sat near the peak with no cycle low to report.
• The FuelWatch tomorrow price feed was incomplete or arrived late that day.
• You already got today's push. It is at most one a day.
• Diesel works differently. It has no weekly cycle, so you get 6 week lows, and, with Servo Scout Pro, alerts for a cheaper nearby servo later.
• Notifications are off for Servo Scout in your phone's settings.
• Your account holds more than 3 favourites without Servo Scout Pro. Trim to 3 and alerts resume.

What Pro adds

Every account gets its first two "fill today" jump pushes free. After that, the jump eve push needs Servo Scout Pro. The cycle low and 6 week low pushes stay free either way.

About the price data

Fuel prices come from FuelWatch, the Western Australian Government's fuel price service. Metro prices are locked for the day, which is what makes a daily alert trustworthy. Dollar figures are shown on a 60 L fill, or on your saved tank size from Settings once the app has synced it.
